West Bay Discovery Centre

Our cultural lives are, like so much, formed by our earliest experiences. At the multi-award winning West Bay Discovery Centre, the team understands the discerning nature of young critics and, this July, they chose to join the British Museum, Natural History Museum and Los Angeles’s Museum of Contemporary Art in adopting the Kids in Museums manifesto.

Interactive Experiences for All Ages

Located inside the historic former Methodist Church, West Bay Discovery Centre is on a mission to ensure that families feel not just welcome but comfortable. From marine conservation and fossils to railway history, each exhibition theme is accompanied by a carefully curated programme featuring co-produced artworks, photography, performances and artefacts. Their Interactive displays engages children and adults alike, and, for those wanting a deeper dive, the centre offers weekly guided walking tours.

Kids in Museums Manifesto

The Kids in Museums manifesto was developed in collaboration with children, young people, and families, and reflects the essence of what makes museums and heritage organisations truly welcoming and inclusive. It is a commitment to being accessible, comfortable, family-friendly, communicative, and an active part of the community.
