David Lockwood Standing Down as Chief Executive
After four years in post, David Lockwood will be standing down as Chief Executive of the Arts Development Company.
During his time at ADC, David has been an unwavering champion for Dorset’s cultural sector, creating the Dorset Town of Culture initiative and overseeing the development of Dorset’s first Creative Health strategy in collaboration with partners across health and culture. Recently, he’s led the development of Dorset’s new Cultural Strategy, uniting the sector around shared strategic priorities.
David Lockwood says:
“It’s been a huge privilege working at ADC, leading on the strategic development of culture to benefit Dorset’s 350,000 residents. It’s been a pleasure working with a hardworking team, dedicated board and inspiring artists, producers, organisations and partners. Having overseen the current cultural strategy and developed the new one, the time feels right to pass the baton to others who can enjoy the opportunity of supporting, celebrating and uniting Dorset’s incredible cultural community.
I’m looking forward to new adventures, to being as useful as possible to the cultural sector, and to helping projects happen that make a difference to people’s lives. I’ll miss Dorset hugely – and look forward to returning as a punter to experience its phenomenal cultural offer”.
Hazel Province, Chair at Arts Development Company says:
“David has been the most passionate and tireless advocate for culture across Dorset, and beyond. He has encouraged us all to be brave, to raise our ambitions and to build stronger and more impactful alliances both within the culture sector and with strategic partners who share our belief in the valuable role that culture can play in people’s lives.
He leaves us with some transformational initiatives to keep alive and take forward.
We wish him every success in his new ventures.”
David will be with ADC until June, The Board will announce succession plans in due course.
